I few years back I found a new in the crate 1996 explorer engine. I was going to use it on a bronco that needed rust repair. The rust repair has now tuned into a tub swap! Looking at the engine recently installed in the frame was driving me crazy and i wanted to hear it run!
I cut off a rusted damaged core support with the battery tray. After throwing together spare parts and some sheet metal I was able to make an engine run stand. I am able to run the engine and have gauges to monitor conditions. The good new is the engine runs great with no check engine lights, good oil pressure, idles great and alt is charging. It is mounted with the two front body mount bolts so I can use it on my next build. Also I am using stock mounts and I can see that a 1" body lift will allow more clearance for the radiator hoses. It is nice to have room to work on the engine with the body off and test fit hoses.
