I did some searching this morning and can't find enough info berfore I start cutting into my rear quarter interior panels. I am looking for a location I can mount a set of 6x9 speakers . Was hoping for over the wheel well. I can fully remove the interior panel so I will need to trust where I cut have enough room to house the magnet. The speakers I am using have a 3.5" depth in the middle in a flush mount. Let me know your set up and a picture would be sweet. Hoping to do this install today since it is snowing us in up here again on the frozen tundra we call north west detroit.

I think we couldn't get enough clearance between the bed rail and the top of the wheel well for the cone to miss the bed rail AND still get the speaker grill to fit. Obviously, this would be completely dependent on the grills on your speakers. We ended up going to the front end of the quarter. It was the only place where we could make the speaker removable with our roll bar and have enough magnet clearance except the very back. If the speakers are all the way in the back only the guy following you can hear them when the top is off.

I could not bring myself to perform the mods that most have done to the rear to get speakers installed so I came up with a box that mounts in the rear behind the rear seat that is detachable. it is a rectangle box essentially split into 3 boxes. The inner one is for the sub and it is down facing. The outer boxes are the speakers and they face upwards. Connected with banana plugs, and angle mounts on the bed, I should be able to remove the box by unscrewing the bolts from the nut-serts I put into the box. I plan on making a tool/misc. box the same dimensions so I can swap the speakers out for the box when off roading. If I do that, I will still have the front speakers for sound.

I have some picutures of the box build if anyone is interested, it was pretty simple.

Those look great. homemade or purchased?

We made them from 16 gauge. Made a paper template first and then went slow and careful with a cut-off wheel and a flapper disk. A jig saw with a good blade will cut the curves.

They are powder coated black now but I can't find a picture of them completed anywhere.
