Is it a new installation, or did it work at one time and no longer does?
Seems like a "new installation" kind of problem, but had to ask.

I see two flywheels. Are they the same diameter as well as tooth count? I assume that all 165t flywheels would be the same diameter, but I can't say for certain.
And the first one obviously has a much larger counterweight. Is that for a later vehicle with 50oz imbalance, or just a different version of a 28oz?

Sorry I can't remember which starter has the gear further in and which one is further out. Someone here remembers though.

Good luck. Back to the top!

New install. The second flywheel is the correct 1. Good eye as the other flywheel is a 50 oz

Back to the top. Any suggestions as to what's going on?
I have not had time to look up the snout and gear extensions (because I'm too busy typing apparently?) but maybe someone will see yours and tell you if it's a manual or automatic trans type starter.

Hmm

The flywheel is correct at 14 1/8 and the starter appears tp be correct

Maybe something is wrong with starter?

Could very well be. Hook it up on the ground with jumper cables and a heavy foot to hold it in place so it doesn't go all whirling-dervish on you. Watch the gear to make sure it's extending outward as the motor starts to spin.
