If fuel is in carb I would think it would start w/o the shot of starting fluid. You sure about fuel? When you look into throat of carb and move throttle do you see shot of liquid gas shooting in?

Fuel, spark and air is what’s needed. Since all you did was add fuel and it started, I’d start looking there.

Does not look like there is any fuel in the fuel filter, Maybe a bad Fuel pump,

Going to check thanks, what about the grinding noise?

what about the grinding noise?

That's what jumped out for me, every time the motor shut down something continues to spin making that noise. No idea what that could be.

EDIT: Maybe that's the starter?

Sounds like the starter is engaging the flywheel but idk I bought one just in case.

That's possible, but whenever I heard that sound I always just assumed it was an older tired starter with bad bearings that was just freewheeling it's life away after disengaging the ring gear.
But since starters probably use bushing type bearings, rather than ball or roller bearings, that maybe doesn't hold water. The drive gear itself being loose maybe?
Anyway, a starter does not just stop instantly after disengaging, so not matter what the exact component or condition that causes the noise, it's probably just saying "I"m old and tired" and asking to be replaced.

Never personally had one make that noise, but sure have heard plenty of them over the years. Hopefully it's as simple as a new starter. But then again, as long as the old one cranks the engine up quickly and does not miss, it's at least still in working shape.

I think you have a power problem going to the coil in the run position. you get spark in the start position because its coming from the starter solenoid. check for voltage at the coil with just Key on. maybe bad connection or fubar resistance wire or loose connection at starter switch or bad switch

I can't watch the videos at work, but this was going to be my suggestion as well.

If voltage is present, then possibly ignition box or pickup coil in the distributor depending on what setup you have.

Are you doing this with a remote starter, and if so is the key in the run position? Or is someone sitting in the cab helping you? Is that a ignition box mounted
to the driver side fender? Curious about the ballast resistor sitting on the cowl. Hard to tell what ignition you have based on that distributor.

You could, temporarily, as a test, run a jumper wire from Bat+ to coil+ and see if it stays running.

Worked!! I don’t have a points system distributor and I do have a ignition box. I added the ballast resistor because the coil is not internally resisted.

I definitely need to recheck the wiring.

Thanks everyone who helped!
