Steering coupling removal question??

I'm tring to remove the coupling that connects the steering shaft to the manual steering box. I've
checked the manual ( Chilton ) and cannot find anything that is helpful. The coupling has only one bolt that is located next to the box. I was able to remove it. I pulled the dust cover and cannot find anyother bolt to remove. I've tried to move the coupling up away from the box. It moves a little but not much. I don't want to force anything yet. So if anyone can explain this to me I would be greatful.
My rig is a '71 with manual steering. I'm tring to fix the play in my steering and it is between the shaft and the coupling.
Thanks.

P.S. Power steering is coming but much later.

You will find a small clamp where the shaft goes into the column near the shift levers. Loosen that and the whole shaft will go into the column. You can pull on the steering wheel to move the shaft up. The clamp holda a wedge against the lower bearing. There are good diagrams of these parts on wild horses and some of the other sites selling the parts. The bearing is most likely crusty and not willing to move, so you will have to work it a little. You can use a lever against the lower coupling to help things.

Good luck,

Art

And watch out mine was stuck pretty good I was tugging and nothing was happening, I yanked it as hard as I could, the thing came loose and it doesn't feel good to cram the steering wheel into your chest :'(
