I searched, but I'm coming up empty, does anyone sell a steering stabilizer for a 1 ton chevy conversion?

Thanks,
Blake

It isn't a steering stabilizer, that would imply a stability issue which shouldn't be patched over incorrectly like was common in the 80s. It is a steering damper, to dampen sudden inputs (impacts) to prevent damage to the steering box, frame, and maybe even your fingers. Thus you should never notice that it is installed in normal driving and the common phrase of "took it off and didn't notice anything different".

As for installing one with different steering linkage. No "kits" exist that I know of. But installing one in the factory configuration (one end on the frame, the other amost at the pitman arm) should be fairly straight forward. Just make sure the damper has enough stroke and properly centered so it doesn't bottom or top out.

Rough Stuff Specialties sells the Chevy 1 ton steering kit. They also sell an opional steering stabalizer (sorry damper:)) bracket for the drag link. it mounts to the drag link or tie rod which ever and where ever you choose to position it with two "U" bolts. they make the braket in two different configurations to suit your needs.
