I'm looking for advice for a good stereo for the bronco, It is going to be mounted in the dash. Any brand/ model I should look at or stay away from?

I have always used pioneer. They have never done me wrong. If you do a search you will find plenty of answers though.

Considering how you use/abuse your truck, you may want to consider going with a Marine unit. Much better protected from the elements than a standard automotive unit.

I've had the best luck with pioneer stuff bouncing around in trucks. We have a kenwwod that 's been pretty good in the 66 but hasn't gone out bouncing around much. Ive seen too many alpines break in street cars to put one in a 4x.

I had a Pioneer MP3/WMA/CD that lasted a month before the dust jammed it up. (One trip to the trails) I returned it and got a JVC that plays the same instead that has performed very well. Any way you go consider at least MP3 capability since it will save a lot of room. (Somewhere around 11 albums will fit on a CD using MP3 or WMA)

BTW, I just recently added a marine cover for the face as well to keep mud and dust from getting in through the front. Unfortunately it will not fit in the stock dash without modification. (The stock opening is too close to the switches and the heater controls would get in the way)

Hot wheels, I like your set up. What are some options for dust protection????

It is enclosed in my Tuffy console. My last stereo had no issues with the Tuffy (Sony) so I see no reason not to give the Pioneer the new home there too :) .

Stay away from Kenwood. They have very poor customer service when something breaks. They do not stand behind their products.

I have a Kenwood and an Alpine. I say Alpine all the way. My brother has the same Kenwood I do and he has had problems and Kenwood was a PIA about fixing it. I would not buy another Kenwood.

What ever you choose get one that plays MP3 and WMA format. Its really nice to have 8 hours of music on 1 CD.

Another vote for Pioneer, I have never had a problem with them. I've had two Sony's in the past and have had problems with both error out on the cd. I just installed the Pioneer DEH-P470MP and love it. It will play just about any format from MP3 to WMA. Also added a set of 5.25 seperates in the doors. Killer sound and the deck has over 200 watts. On EBay it was just over
$130 to my door brand new with the Pioneer two year warranty, can't beat that! All the local stereo shops wanted $200 for it.
