Well, after months of reading and researching I wanted to introduce myself and lay out a plan for my build and get as much feedback as possible and hopefully provide info to others wanting to do the same. This is my first thread so forgive me if my forum etiquette is off.
To start, I am a husband, father and business owner so time is extremely valuable. I have an 11 year old girl and a 14 yr old son who are athletic and keep us running from practices to games and so on and I love it!
My second passion is classic vehicles with modern heartbeat. I have a thing for making these old turds beautiful and drive-able with modern amenities such as Fuel injection, A/C etc. I have a 72 C-10 4x4 short bed with a 6.0 LS and 4L65E which has been fully restored and will be my sons when he is grown and responsible.
For this build I am starting with an uncut 66 in pristine condition, numbers matching and intend to cut it to pieces, tube it out with 1 tons and 44's and go wheelin....
Well, not exactly. It is a 66 but it is rough and rusty, has no engine, leaking C4, nasty D20, sweet shocks brackets, axle trusses, anti wrap bars and limiting straps. It has been hacked, patched and painted 5 times including the last paint job which looks like it is flat white for the ceiling in the house. It has no seats the dash is destroyed and it ended its life with an engine fire.
My plan for this build is to fix the body using the back half of the tub and replacing all sheet metal from the quarters forward. I'm not interested in a show vehicle but rather a clean driver. I will use the stock frame with a 2 inch body lift. I will be going through the axles and transfer case replacing worn parts and seals then painting. The engine bay will house a Coyote 5.0 from an F150 and the trans will be a 6R80. I want a family cage with 3 point seat belts keeping the family safe that clears the hard top. I love the look of 33x12.50's on these and think I will go with Brittany blue unless my wife influences me otherwise. I want her to be happy and want to ride in it too.
Everyone on here is awesome and I have enjoyed reading all the builds. I look forward to hearing what everyone has to offer.
