Does anyone know if you can get a blank key for the stock locks that is larger? The stock keys are so small.

I don't know of anyone who makes a factory looking key that's larger than the original. But if you don't care about original looks, try your local hardware store for a generic blank. It probably has a larger head than the original Bronco trapezoid shape. I was surprised that my local Home Depot carried blanks for my '68 Mustang.

Or what about just adding a cover over your original to make it larger?

Yes it is possible to a longer key. Long ago I replaced my factory key with one that has a long shank. It has been great for keeping the keys off the dash. The problem arose whn I tried to put a new ignition and lock set in. The later replacement locks use a different blank that does snot have one of the needed grooves. So I can still use a spare blank for my old lock, but not in a new ignition. switch. What I don't know is whether the key blank maker still makes keys with grooves on one side as needed as needed for the original ignition switch. But I can say that it has been really good to have all these years because of that dash problem with the shorter stock keys. Do a search for key blanks for vintage vehicles and see if you can find that key blank maker.

Great ideas all. Ill continue to look for larger blank keys and let you all know if I find any. I will also do some experimenting with welding up a custom key. May try several different types to see how they work. I would like one that is about 1/4" longer and the size of a quarter on the end. Ill post any progress.
