That truck sounds tough! Love the work Tom... Todd, you have to be right at the point where you're not sleeping very well waiting for the truck to get to MD! It came togehter really nicely and that 351 sounds mean as heck!

Craig, I know your seeing these videos waiting for me to add the 351w and AOD to yours;D Phase 2:cool: You gotta come out and ride in it;D

next

For me it's a stroker motor and AOD on the 73 (the one TOm completed back in May) and then a restoration on the other truck once time (and money) allow!

Tom will be posting new pics soon...it's pretty much done!!

We scrapped the EFI. I wanted to get some opinions on the matter. Tom told me the rig runs like a top carbed and considering I live in MD and it will be garaged, the need for an EFI is tough to justify. I would like the better economy and better cold starts, but I'm a broke bastard and quite frankly, I am ready to take possession of this thing!

Any opinions while it still isn't too late?

If Tom says it runs like a top , leave it.
You will not gain any efficency over a well tuned carb.
Again , with a good carb , cold starts shouldn't be an issue , other then maybe being a bit rich while the choke is applied.
If manual choke , what worked for me , full choke till it started then feather the choke off a bit , maybe half way or so for a few minutes/miles , then full open.

I had a $hitty carb and am not a tuner , so I went with EFI , it works fine for me. Since then I have picked up a trail rig that is carbed and runs as well as the EFI. Go figure ...

Thanks for the input fellas...I think I am sticking with the carb for a myriad of reasons...lack of funds being a primary reason!

Going with a cowl hood. It should be installed now...Tom promised me pics Wednesday, but it must have slipped his mind.

Carb

Tom suggested the carb I have on mine now and 3500 miles later it's doing just fine! There's always later for the upgrades......;D I'd say run the carb.

The engine came to Tom already re-built...they had the rear seal on backwards so Tom had to pull the tranny out to replace it. If it werent for that mishap, I'd be on the highway as we speak.

Hoping for an outside shot that Tom green lights the rig and I can head out tomorrow. Either way, I am finally gonna get to see it for the first time in the next few days. Nearly 12 months from starting the process and 20 years of dreaming, I am pretty stoked to get behind the wheel.

roadster

Craig...'66 Roadster?? Details please.

I actually have to update my profile. I sold the roadster about 2 months ago and have picked up a 72 Baja that's going to get a full body off resto. It is a lot more solid then the roadster was and a little more rare so I'm excited to get it going!

That's awesome. I'll look out for the resto thread.
