Storable soft top - ideas?

My 72 is my daily driver, and I am currently running an older STC soft top with the roll up windows. I really prefer driving it topless, but given that I am in it every day that isn't really practical, since if I get ready to leave work and it's raining outside I'm somewhat stuck (particularly a problem given that I have carpet in it). What I would really like to have is a lightweight, non-bulky soft top that I could keep in the back and just throw on to stay dry when it is raining. Does such a top exist? Ideally I would like to use the riser and fast track setup that goes with the STC top I have but that's probably only going to happen if I have something custom made. If it turns out custom is my only option, what material should I use and any ideas on who could do the work? Thanks in advance.

Have you thought about running a bikini top? Doesn't keep you completely dry, but it does help and they roll up real nice.

I have a family cage bikini for the same reason (old STC with roll up windows). When it rains- the inside still gets very wet and driving in the rain is not a great eaxperience. I have a lined interior... no carpet.

When my EB was my daily driver for 7 years I ran the old style fasttrack top and I just folded it back neatly behind the back seat and ran either topless or a bikini top. If it rained I just put the top up.. it didnt take very long.

Why would you need anything different?

The back is usually full of other things so I was hoping to find something that wasn't as bulky to roll up and put under (or just in front of) the rear seat. Your suggestion would work well if I had a little more space to work with but the STC top takes up a good bit of room no matter how I try to fold it.

Might want to start saving for a Rampage top. I think most of the vendors are selling this top now. Some of complained of the overall quality, but I think for the money it is a pretty good bargain.
The bonus over the older STC or Bestops is that you can zip out all the windows side and back and run full bikini style. No rolling up and scratching plastic windows. Like the others have said, unless it is wind blowing downpour, you'll stay pretty dry and the top will keep the hot summer sun off. Watch the radar and put the windows back in when you see a major one coming. My 2 cents.

This is what I do and it works great (Rampage top with the windows out - Safari Style). It gets a little wet in the back when the rain is sideways, but it dries quickly. Windows up in the front during showers keep the front dry. Getting the top completely down and folded in the back, still attached just takes a few minutes.

I wish one of the vendors would re-visit the drawing board and design a top similar to the older heeps. I used toi have a 93 YJ and the top was easy and quick to take down or put up and it had zip out windows..... I know I will catch hell for a heep comparison but hey, it was a sweet set up that would be kick ass on the EB. If they did, I would not do a hard top at all....

Try a bikini top, a windjammer and a tonneau cover. That, and rolling the windows up, will get you almost weather proofed!
