Alright, I am needing to fit my fam of 6 in the Bronco, if you didnt know I do have the luxury or an extra 12" of interior room. I have a cage with a front seat kit, I put together the startings of a rear seat kit today with some 1.5" x 1.5" x .120" square tube to be between the front kit and the rear bar. I am wondering what the best way to secure the seats to this would be, whether to use tabs or to drill and bung the tubing or to use some sort of unistrut off these bars. I was leaning towards the third but the stuff I got (thickest I found probably 14ga) I dont think is strong enough. It would be nice to be adjustable to slide the seats where I want them but isnt the end of the world as I need to get some better seats for the bigger kids (5 and 3) anyways.
If bungs, where do I get them?
If the better unistrut (channel style) where do I find it?
Tabs, where do I mount them?

Suggestions welcome.

I would look at the new adjustable tie down stuff they sell for truck beds. The key is that the seat belts need to attach to solid points on the body or cage, not to the seats. The bolts should hold the seats in place, and the seatbelts should hold the occupants in place.

I really like Tom and Vipers idea. Super easy removal of both seats, location adjustability. With some good seat belt rings bolted to the floor and click lock racing belts...You could have an open truck bed for honey-do's in less than 5 minutes.

Handicap conversion vans use special floor tracks that accept a variety of sliding/locking clips, similar to airliners. You can buy those tracks at Northern Tools & probably other places, and they'll allow you to reconfigure the cargo area very quickly, but still with the safety of a secure attachment. The tracks are VERY low-profile, and might even sit flush in the floor corrugations.
