Day 6

Day 6: Sallisaw OK. to Carlisle ARK. = 205 miles of eastward progress, that leaves 513 miles to Townesd.
Man o' man did we go a wandering today. And, it started with such a simple little detour off I-40 to visit an aircraft and military museum in Fayetteville. If there is anything better than cars IMO it's vintage airplanes, so a worthy deviation. An added bonus was coming across Penguin Ed's BBQ for lunch, yeah, now that was a bit of carnivore heaven.
The wandering was a desire to take backroads to I-40 to get a bit of the flavor of the area off the interstate. Well a bit of a kerfuffle between me, Walker, and GoggleMaps gave us a bit more of a taste than we desired. About 150 miles more of back roads. Under the heading of see the USA and cruise the backroads, we took it in stride and made it fun. It really was very interesting and beautiful.
Do check out the photo and notice the engine, model A?

We've done some of that get off the interstate and see the AR countryside. Know exactly what you mean. You can get to places where none of the roads are going where you want to go. Look forward to seeing you in Townsend.

Yep, that pretty much sums up the whole afternoon.
We also are looking forward to meeting folks once we get there and seeing all the Broncs. Soon if we can now stay on track.

You honked at the right time, that is exactly where we are/were, and now we are chasing you. Time for the am Bronco check over and then out onto the road.
I like it that Walker can wrench and I direct, a fine dad benefit.

Awesome! We're having breakfast in Nashville. Had to stop and snooze a couple hours earlier.

Love the road trip reports. Looking forward to hearing more in person. We did a 6 week trip coast to coast back in 78. Lots of great stories from that one. Lots of maintenance along the way too. Memories you and walker will have for life

Day 7

Day 7: 513 miles today, miles to go= 00,000
Apparently, amassing so many Classic Broncos all in one area has caused a magnetic vortex that sucked us across Tennessee to Townsend in one magnificent roll. Did not seriously consider doing this all in one day, but got a hard bite on the bit and here we are. I must admit I have little feeling in my butt after 7 straight days in an EB with stock seats, but so excited and grateful to have made it.
Driving from California we only saw two EBs and both of those were close to home and now they are everywhere I look!!!
We are camped in the KOA. Will be out and around at the events tomorrow, please do say hi, looking foreword to meeting everyone and checking out all the rigs.
Steve
We should be easy to spot....
Stock height, uncut, calypso coral (orange), stock wheels (no hubcaps)

Congrats on a successful trip. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. I'm so jealous, I had to cancel my trip do to health issues with my mom.
