TBP deluxe door panels

Has anyone successfully installed these without drilling new holes in your door? The door cup position is critical and the chrome trim blocks the cup from being positioned properly and also blocks the clips from going in the correct spots. I would up leaving two of the clips out.

They look good but no thought towards the installation. IMO

Anyone with previous experiences or ideas?

You did better than I did. I installed them and got all the clips to line up but no way can I get the door cup installed. It doesn’t get close to reaching the studs I think because of the thickness of the deluxe panel.
If anybody from TBP reads these maybe they can share some insight.

I've installed 2 sets of these with success. You need to grind the slots on the top of the plastic door cup so it sits properly allowing you to start the door latch nuts. It is a tight fit, but I am able to start one nut, pull it down a bit, then start the other nut. I left out about 4 clips to make it easier to install. Installing all of them is overkill IMOP. Find the clips that aren't allowing the cup to position over the studs, and leave them out.

Any photo of the door cup grind. IMO the thickness of the panel where the fake wood grain was added doesn’t allow the cup to depress far enough in. Maybe I’m missing something.

That cup is definitely part of the problem and I thought of removing some material to open up the slot in the cup that grabs ahold of the panel on top but its going to get sorta thin. Too thin IMO.

I called Tom's thinking I missed something......no help there. I think I spoke to one of the guys in the video. Ha, let me redo that video for ya. LOL

They should also remove some of the chrome trim above the door cup. Just the lower line needs to go.

I peeled off the inner layer of the vinyl thinking I could make it thin enough but it was a dangerous idea as I might have separated the outer layer from the inner making it look like I sliced it. I did that. It will be hidden but depressing none the less.

Well I’m going to have to resolve somehow. I’ve got a Ranger and wanted the deluxe with the fake wood top. There on and actually look ok, I just can’t figure out how to get the door cups on to finish the job

Had same problems with wild horses. The clips are a pain in the ass the chrome doesn’t allow them to align right.

The one door I have "finished" the cup is pretty much just jammed up high enough to not fall off. The cup is pushed up and over that lower chrome trim. Pulling up on that much tears up the cardboard a bit. Another bad thing is that the way I have it creates a
small gap between the panel and the cup. I wish there was a way to actually machine off that lower chrome line. I feel trying to remove it by hand would be sketchy at best.

Not a deal breaker, but it seems like most all parts for these wonderful jalopies require some sort of modification. Makes me wonder how a person with no mechanical aptitude gets past the initial thought of "well that sucks" LOL

I just got through the rewiring process and added the interior portion of the AC project. Believe me....I've been modifying since last fall.

I trimmed the top of the cup so it fit below the chrome piece. That worked fine. It was the clips that killed me.

To funny grinder, these things are a bitch but beat the 2016 F-250 I got. At least we can wrench on these things. Just a pisser when the aftermarket stuff fights back so hard. I know if I went with the standard panels with normal thickness they would be a breeze. I’m just going to have to start grinding on the door cups as they are much cheaper than the door panels. Hahah
