i live about 15minutes from one...which usually shows first run movies too. best part is that you can pretty much bring anything you want food and drink wise. grills allowed too. it's like a tailgate with a movie...

now i definitely must get the bronco finished and there. just to use the fold down windshield. great idea. thanks!

The wife and I (and now kids too!) take the Bronco to the Harvest Moon Drive In in Gibson City, IL at least once a summer. The last time it ended up raining and we had to put the top up and watch the last half of the movie through the rear soft top window. Can you say distortion :p . It was that crappy Jim Carey movie where he's a pet detective or something, so no loss anyway.

They usually play first run movies, it's $5 dollars per person, and family run. The family runs the food stand and the Pizza Hut across the street will deliver to your car.

Good times. If you have one near you, get the Bronc out and go.

This was an article about the Valley 6

"Beware the Field Men! Why I love the drive-in.
Seattle Weekly Katie Millbauer
Rattails, grown men in sweat pants, souped-up '70s-era Ford Broncos. You guessed it--South King County. More specifically, the Valley 6 drive-in between Auburn and Kent. Date: 8/22/2002"

Nice!

Here's the link...it's in Newberg, OR. From what I hear, there is less than 400 drive ins left in the U.S.

Cool, thanks for the link. I just checked out the location and it's only about 25 miles from my home. I'll have to pack up the family for a night out at the movies in the old Bronco. I didn't know we had one that close, and for the most part thought they were all closed. The last drive in I went to was Foster about 10 years ago. Very cool, thanks for the info...... maybe I'll see you there some night.

Later,
Ron

Have fun everyone, and if you are thinking about going to the Hwy. 99 drive in at Newberg, just make sure to get there early. There is an Abby's Pizza a mile or so down the highway to the south. Best Pizza around. Grab a giant pizza and hang out until the movie starts.

Also, the sound comes in from dialing in an FM station, so it usually sounds pretty good.

I miss those Drive Ins:'( I wonder if any left in Western Canada.

To me there was few ideas more romantic than taking a girl to a movie there instead of the dumbass coliseum seating things we have nowadays.

And as far as some guy checking us out..... never bothered me!! Hell, last week, a friend of a friend brought out her girlfriend who was visiting, we all went camping. Her and I were making out like wild monkeys right there at the fire, who cares what every one else thinks! And before you say, big deal, I met her for the first time 6 hours prior.;D
