I'm not buying a locker for my HP 60 front, rather just welding the spiders to each other and the case. Is there any real disadvantage to running thick cut gears? My axle has 4.11s in it already and I don't want to buy a new open case that's 4.56 and up just to weld it.

You can get all the ratios in thick, but not 5.13 in thin. So if I had known about that I would not have bought the 4.56 and up carrier.

That's good to know, I don't think I'll be going deeper than 4.88 I run those with 37" and a singe T shift case and it does well with my NP435.

I plan on putting in a 700R4 with an atlas or a doubler behind a 4bt.

Even still I'll put the 5.13 thing in the back of my mind.

Prices I was quoted before:

$185 - YK D60-F master install kit
$205 - ZG D60R-488R USA Standard
$105 - YC D706041 open empty case
$30 - shipping

So I can save about 100 by using thick cut gears.

They are both the thick gears, the -T in the part # stands for thick.

I wish I could find a set of 5.13 thin because I have a 4.56 and up ARB for my D60 that's still waiting to be installed and a new superior r&p in 5.14 for the back.

I wish I was in the market for an ARB but I'm a cheap skate! How bout I trade you my open carrier for the ARB LOL

I think I'll just go with the thick cut if there is not any downside to it. I cannot see how it could be better or worse than regular gears except for maybe more thread on the ring gear bolts.

Sweet! no need for a new carrier then! That's a 100 bucks I don't need to spend either.
