I have a 351w reman ATK engine that has been sitting in the garage for about 2 years. What should I check before installing the engine? Anything I should swap out internally or modify?

Thanks

I had a used 351 that I let set for 1 1/2 years. Pretty much the same thing. I put a little engine oil in the cylinders instead of Marvel Mystery Oil. When I was ready to fire up the engine, I put oil in it, and used a tool to turn the oil pump and prime the engine. Had the valve covers off and watched for oil up the pushrods. Been running for 3 years now with no problems.

If you use Marvel Mystery oil (and even with engine oil in the cylinders) be prepaired for some smoke out the exhaust on startup.

Yeah, mines been sitting up for a few years too and I'm wondering about the cam and what lube might be left there, and in what condition it's in. Brand new FMS crate long block. I'm thinking something a little more than a squirt of fogging oil in the cylinders but haven't researched it yet. Maybe next year! ;D
