I'm transporting 2 Marc Chagall artworks to my newly renovated building, along with some other important paintings in my awesome Bronco. I probably have over a hundred thousand dollars worth of art in the bed of my Bronco
It's a lot of driving back and forth between a storage vault off site and a construction zone. I successfully get the artworks out and am waiting with my Bronco (which was turned off) while it's being unloaded.
I received an offer of marriage from one of the constructions worker and lots of great compliments on the Bronco. Circled the block to get out of the construction zone and idled it for less than 2 min. The car died, steam started coming up out of the engine, and radiator fluid exploded from the bottom of the car flooding the space around me.
I'm doubled parked. I thought my engine was on fire at first so I grabbed the extinguisher and tried to delicately open the hood. It was too hot but I was able to peak under the hood and saw it was just steam from fluids spilling on the hot engine. It's about 98+ degrees outside.
Standing in a pool of radiator fluid I get my phone out to call AAA since I was blocking in 3 cars and my phone is dead. It's been on it's last leg and chose this afternoon to die completely. I run inside a campus building, call AAA for a tow truck, arranged for the kids to be picked up from school and ran back to stay with the car.
After 1 1/2 hours of standing in full sun I was approached by the campus police. They called AAA and were told the first tow truck couldn't find me on the university campus. They sent out another truck. And hour later it arrived and when the guy was in the process of getting it on the flatbead a baggie fell on the ground. A baggie with remnants of Cannabis.
Now the cop is still with me. The tow truck driver swears it's not his. Arguments ensue. I really don't understand how it was settled because I was so dang hot and dehydrated. The people I was blocking in wanted to leave. Next thing I know I'm headed to the repair shop with a very quiet tow truck driver.
I hope it's a broken hose or something simple but I'm not touching it. I trust my mechanic and hopefully he'll get it fixed before driving it 600 miles round trip to the AR event later this month.
