So what do you think guys, is this safe? Green bungee cords are the strongest I hear, should be fine right?

Okay okay, I know that isn't good, just a temp fix so I can run the engine. So before I take to the road, I need something a little less ghetto.

Anyone know of a secure way for me to hook up my return spring for that setup? The old spring the PO had on it was a rusty single spring hooked around the temp sender, and since I replaced it that is no longer a good setup, not that it ever was.

I've seen some stuff in the Summit catalog, but I'm not sure if any of it will fit. Any suggestions or photos of how you found a place to hook a spring out in space will be appreciated.

Bottom of the arm to a bracket using those bolt holes on the back of the intake.
I think I have even just hooked the spring around a bolt stuck in one of those holes, no bracket needed.

A secure spring is pretty important. That's why they come doubled up. I had a friend break a spring loose on a small block Chevy. Ruined the motor before he could get to the ignition switch.

I didn't realize I could put a spring from the rear, come to think of it I did see the lower ring on the throttle. Might see if there is a good location for a bracket there. BronCowie's setup might work for me as well.

Thanks, maybe I can get somewhere with this tomorrow. I'll report back.

Got some help making it from my Dad and a friend at work, but this is how it turned out.

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions! :)

Nice spring. Mine is at least 30 years old. I think I will take BluBuck's advice and get one of those before it gives up the ghost.
