Time for a Family Cage and need help!

You won't be able to buy a pre-bent cage and make it go through the dash, that's a custom application. You either have to have a custom cage bent, have a pre-bent fit and welded, or buy a pre-bent and welded cage.

But I need my e brake since my truck is a stick may need to do a little custom work there. My other concern is the cage and soft tops can you still put the soft top up and down easily?

what about bc's family cage. It doesn't have the front leg room issues and he's in texas so you could probably pick it up and pay no shipping.

Thanks chris!! %) With three kids and a new born son, and a family business that is just barely making it, wheeling has been at the bottom of my list of things to do! I will hopefully get back into it next year. My son will be over a year old by next summer and we are already planning to go to the Round Up. Just want to be safe!

Was just on the Extreme sight and most of the bronco cages are on sale! A basic 6 point cage you have to weld together for under $500.00 delivered. That is about the best price I have seen. May have to break the credit card out sooner than I wanted to get these prices!

Maybe I do not understand but Extreme's cages have "split hoops" and sleeves. Does this mean the main hoops are two pieces and you sleeve and weld them for a complete hoop?

The low dollar deals give you a cut hoop with a smaller slug to weld in. For a bit more on shipping you can get uncut hoops from Extream.

ok, I just saw this set up. How crazy hard do you think this would be?

It was not hard to do it behind the dash, but my dash was out of the truck when I bent the cage and I do not have the e-brake in the stock location. I also swapped the speaker grill and glove box on the pass. side and did the same thing so that I can still use the glove box and the cage just goes behind the un-used speaker grill.

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the posts ~ Lots of good data here.

I think what I might end up getting is a set of bars from Extreme Custom Fabrication and then having a local place (HCC Performance) put it in for me. From everyone's comments I'm getting the picture that getting it lined up properly in the front could be tricky. I'm really liking the 'through' the dash set up but need to find out how much work will go into the E-brake mod. Seems I forgot that I don't really have that much room in the glove box due to my vintage air kit that was just put in.

If anybody has pics on how they set up their bars and the e-brake that would be really helpful!

I dont have any pics up for anything yet, but love my family 8 point cage. Had E-brake pedal heated and bent just enough to clear cage. You could also probably have it cut and weld an offset on it to clear as well. The bend was less work for mi e and works perfect.

Finally got my family cage installed and even started/finished my Dynamat/Racket Jack project. I bought the 8 point TBP cage and love it. We terminated the a-pillars into the top of windshield frame, which I know comprises the integrity of the cage, but my thought process was: This won’t be a rock crawler, needed the room since it will be my DD, and it's a better cage than the original one that it came with, also - it gave me easier access to the dash panel if it ever need work.
