Tire carrier differences

Hello all. So, when I bought my Bronco in 2004 it had a tire carrier on it in the factory location. I took it off a few years after and it sat forever...

So now my fiancé has a super stock Bronco with a totally different tire carrier then the one I had thought was stock on mine. Did Ford make 2 different styles? My Bronco is a 68 and hers is a 75. Hers has a bend on the bottom and mine doesn't. Also, the mounting brackets are different. Both bolt right up. Could one be a 66-67 only, or maybe an early aftermarket one specifically for 66-77 Broncos?

75 (Yellow?) has factory cast iron/steel brackets, and the tire support on the bracket looks like Ford bracket on my current tire carrier.
The tire support bracket on the other mount ( bent C- channel) looks like the support that was on the after market tire rack I originally had. It bolted to the Ford cast brackets, but the overall length was longer so that a gas can could be mounted between tire and right rear tail light.
I think I bought that rack from K-Bar-S or Vic Hickey.

66-67 only had aftermarket ones, as the factory ones weren't available until '68. I've seen a lot of home-brew ones over the years - and the one on your truck is one of those.

The one on the yellow Bronco is the stock Ford one. The one with the blue Bronco is an aftermarket design. I had one on an old '69 I no longer own (see photos below) and have seen others with the same one. No clue who the manufacturer was, but I've seen a handful of this type over the years.

Thanks man. Looks Identical to mine. For many many years I thought it was factory because it was on it and fit just right

interesting... I didn't know the 66-67 didn't have a swing out tire carrier option form the factory. My 67 has holes in the RH tail light housing( they look original stamped out) that I left in place just in case I want to run a OE tire carrier one day. I didn't have one at the time however I since then acquired one. Now you got me thinking if the holes in the housing even match up to the OE tire carrier mounting horns...

gotta dig up those horns and mate them to the housing - the suspense is now killing me lol

I had a 66 half cab. The tire carrier on it was different from all three I see in this post.

The yellow one does have an odd bumper thing on the lower rail which was not stock. To be truly stock, you will need the limiting cable that attaches to the frame and the back of the carrier.
