Well the latest project is in the books. After much research here on the forums, and long deliberation, I decided on the TBP kit. I read a lot about other kits having issues being full width at the kick panels, etc. Regardless of other kits' quality, which I can not speak to first hand, I went with Toms and couldn't be happier. The fit is second to none. No kick panel issues, It's dead on. The tunnel, floor pan drop-off, and rear inner fender seams are all spot on. Here are a few pictures of the install. I opted to buy the insulation locally. Anyone in the Oklahoma City area needing anything, Gibson Trim Supply has everything you could ever need, be it carpet, vinyl, insulation, etc. I paid $10 a sq yard for the nice heat shield aluminum backed insulation. 4 yds was exactly what was needed. Without further rambling.... The pictures.

The floor pan I found when I ripped out the old carpet. Not bad, other than the 15 extra holes the PO put in the floor for a half-ass seat install.

The Insulation being jigsaw puzzled in. I seamed everything with aluminum tape.

Finally, the carpet. Still a few wrinkles here and there that I'm waiting to see if they will take care of themselves. I taped down the insulation and then glued the carpet in with heavy upholstery shop spray adhesive.

And..... Done

Looks really good! Would like to see the new seats as well. Or pics of the whole truck for that matter!

Nice job! Looks like it came out really good. TBP is top notch all the way. Haven't been disappointed with anything from them yet.

Can you post a better pic of how you handled the shifter cover? It looks intriguing and inspiring from the pics where it is installed. Thx.

Do you mean how I carpeted over it? Here is the finished product, not sure if that's what you're looking for.

I wonder how difficult it would be to do a DIY molded mat set (like the custom fitted one in the other thread) using the silicone stuff they make face molds out of. I could see doing the bed in that and then just rhino lining the front pans plus mats.

Real interested to know your feedback after you drive it.... road noise, etc. Getting ready to do the same project.

My feedback. Unbelievable. I assumed it wouldn't make a huge difference in noise because there was carpet in there before. My advice to anyone tackiling this project, do what I did and make that insulation fit as tightly around the shifter and transfer shift as possible. The PO had no insulation over that, so there was just a giant loud hot hole. Good insulation, properly installed, and ever corner and crevice filled, you wouldn't believe the difference. Road noise is much less, low RPM noise is much much less. I contemplated sticking with a lined tub, but the echo was more than I could bear, since it's gonna be a weekend mall crawler. I'm so glad I opted for the carpet, and quality insulation. The only noise you here now is very directional, and it's obviously straight from the engine compartment. The only weak point in insulation is the firewall, so thats the culprit. Feedback, wouldn't change a thing.

Nice job! I always wonder what you carpet guys do about water leaks and festering moisture under those pretty carpets. EBs just aren't waterproof. Is that insulation sealed to the floor along the edges in any way to prevent water from entering, or is that foil tape enough? I'd love to put carpet in mine, but fear the silent, creeping red cancer.

when you saw you taped down the insulation - was this a two way tape underneath, or the foil tape on the edges? how much tape coverage did you do?

Did you do anything to the firewall? A few of the vendors sell an specific-fit firewall insulation kit. You could also just apply the dynamat or insulation and cut it around to fit.

Probably worth the added effort, don't you think?

Also, just to clarify, it looks like you started off with a bedliner spray type product on your interior? Over top that was the insulation, over top that the carpet?

Thanks!

BTW, there was a thread a few weeks ago about Bedrug for a Bronco. This probably wouldn't do quite as good a job with the soundproofing, but would certainly help, and would be easily removed, hosed out, could get wet, etc. Sounds like a lot of folks would be interested. Might be worth getting an effort together to convince Bedrug to start making one for the EBs.

The insulation runs all the way up the firewall on the passenger side. On the driver side I ran it up, but cut it out after the carpet install because it was just too obvious and shiny where the carpet stopped. I might throw some dynamat on the firewall and line-x it to make it fit it. And yes, line-x, then insulation, then carpet. As for taping, I added a couple lengths of double stick down the middle of the bed, and taped the edges down with aluminum tape to seal it off at all sides. It might not be air tight or sealed, but it's pretty close. Any water through the carpet would not likely get through the insulation to the floor pan.

I am also getting ready to install the TBP one piece carpet - i am not thrilled with the idea of glueing the insulation down. Has anyone else taped the insulation down - how does that hold up?
