Well I did it! My "top has never been off Bronco" has poped her top!
After surfin- other threads on how to take it off properly, I went out and bought some pullys, rope, 2X4's, and some eyebolts....and had it off by myself(patting my own back). A little trick I did........I attached four tie downs in each corner. As I pulled the top up with the rope and pully, I tightened the strap. After lifting a little in each corner....many times, it was hittin- the sheetrock- Done! Later I replaced the tiedowns with chain.....
Like some have said....I dont think it will ever go back on! Man this is a blast driving without the steel pounding (thunder) hard top.

One question: Without a roll bar (hopefully soon to come) How do you get the windshield to stop chattering against the doors?

Like the Duck Boat in the picture......My wife wanted a duck boat for her birthday! Threw it in the back of the bronc- after spotting it at a yard sale. A wife that like's to duck hunt you ask ;D .......No, she's planting flowers in it %)

Nice looking bronco. I like the lifted uncut look.

Without a roll bar I'm not sure you can stop the windshield chater.

Put a roll bar in that thing...safety is job one.

Then brace the windshield to the rollbar....problem solved.

Thanks!..........Jeff's 2 inch coils and lift blocks(yeah, yeah, lift blocks are not the "real deal", but this one does not see much off-road action) & BFG 33 x 9.50's.

Roll Bar, Yes I need one. The floor is a little soft, so I'd like to replace the front pans first. This is the roll bar I was looking at.....

are you sure? that roll bar is for a half cab

Yup! I don't have a back seat(1), and I've been toying with the half cab idea(2), and it will look different than everybody else(3)........So, Yes I think I'm going to put a half cab cage in my Bronco wagon. Does anybody have a picture of one of these installed?

I just wish my garage looked that neat!! I like it, I'm a big fan of lifted and uncut. As for the type of roll cage with a torch and welder anything will fit. Good luck.

Happiness is going Topless!

Hey John,

Looks good without that top! If you plan on driving it with the top off you should at least get a bikini top and a roll cage cause ya never know when a quick shower may come along and ruin your parade. Trust me I've been there with my 76.
Kitchen Is almost complete just need to finish the countertops now!
Then its full blast Bronco restoration ;D You still want the stock tires and wheels for the 75? They are still on the Bronco %)

Bikini top is on my list! to get the bikini top I need the cage, to get the cage I need floors, to get the floors.........I need some fabrication skills.

Yeah I'll still take the wheels from ya! Let me know, and I'll stop by and help you out someday(sunny day) don't have the bikini yet!

Welcome to the site Gerry......look forward to seeing your posts!

How do you think a 33 x 10.50 would look/fit on a uncut bronco with a 3.5" lift and the factory steel wheels?

I don't want to give you bum advice, but I think it will work.
With the extra inch, I think you will have no problem. Just stay off the rocks!

So what do you know about the history of your rig? Looks like you have a 66-67 tailgate on it.

Wrap some can cozy's around the back support posts so you don't brain yourself walking under the top. Got my top off this weekend too! Wish I had done it your way. I used the two friends and a case of beer method.

you can stop the windshield from hitting the doors by shimming the windshield. Just fold it forward and stick some washers (only 1 or 2) between the frame and the dash(where the two bolts hold the windshield back). That is what I did, and I should have done it sooner because I rubbed some of the paint off my door frame from the windshield hitting.

Wow! Your good! My Orig. 73 gate is up on a shelf in the garage. I bought this tailgate off of Ebay........it was a rust free olive drab green gate with military plates(Hmmmmmmmm?) I thought it looked cool and forked over the winning bid for it. After moving it around the garage, I decided hell with it and painted it!
After installing it...I was P.O'd...wrong year tailgate!

What gives it away? Wish I would have known before I bought it!

Thanks!

Just that it has the single ridge running across it instead if 2. After I finally realized the diff, I have gotten good at spotting it.

Don't feel bad, after i realized the diff, I realized I had one on a parts truck for 3 yrs already.

You are gonna laugh that you missed it when i tell you. On your orig gate, look inbetween the 2 blue stripes, you see how the raise has a ridge above and below? Now look at your gate now and see how it only has the lower ridge.
I know it is a 66 thing and think at least some 67's were that way too.
