Hey i was wondering if anyone ever got a tow hitch from another truck that fits in pretty good with the bronco frame. just want a hitch in case i get stuck in the mud i have a way to get pulled out. ;D. Even if you made a custom one i would like to see it as well.
Thanks:cool:

Its not a hitch per say but my dad had a bunch of these old things in a bucket in the barn. I wire wheeled all of the rust and crap and bolted to them on each frame horn on the front and rear just far enough under so you can't see them. They worked great for pulling the bronco in and out of the shop and around the yard when it didn't have an engine in it.

It will be a real hard find. The thing is the Bronco frame is a bit narrower then just about anything else out there. That little catch is what makes finding large junkyard gas tank impossible as well.

My hitch was taken from an 80's Malibu station wagon and adapted to fit. But I use the "D" rings for pulling her out of the mud... or I would if I ever took it in the mud. D rings are optimal for towing vehicles (yours or someone else's) out of tough spots, that's why you will see them on ALL military vehicles. They've looked into this:cool:

Duff offers a bolt on hitch: 4905 Receiver Hitch, $119

I picked up some hooks off a newer Chevy Blazer at the junkyard and bolted them on, one front one rear.

Oh, you meant a hitch for towing, not being towed...
I welded a receiver hitch mount directly onto the bottom of my bumper, but my bumper is 3/16" and has very large plates that bolt to the frame. I was going to adapt on a receiver just like the draw tite unit shown, but it didn't sit right below the bumper and the metal was the same thickness of my bumper. The bumper seems a little big on my truck but I am hoping it will look at home after its all painted. It is the only way I could get it to look decent to cover the body lift gap and not let the frame horns stick out the bottom.

222, any way you can put that hitch thru your bumper for a "cleaner" look before you paint it? Looks like you have the room. Not throwing stones at all!! just a thought.

I bought the Duff hitch mentioned above....then modified it to exit through the center of a stock bumper. It hung too low the way it was for an uncut rig. I bolted hooks to the underside of the frame horns up front...works really well pulling my wife out of the ditch 3 or 4 times every winter....Texas gal %)

My previous owner towed a travel-all. He installed a receiver hitch. I tow a little speedboat sometimes.

The short wheel base of an EB makes it hard to tow longer heavier things.

I got no clue. My PO owned a huge tractor trailer repair garage. The Bronco was a tiny spec in the garage when I first saw it.

Looks here like he welded a receiver into a larger one? The customized it to be be bolted in 2 places to the frame on each side in 2 places plus the bumper.

I think I well remove that today. Maybe reinstall when time comes. It probably weighs 100 pounds I bet.

I like how he even customized the safety chain holders.

If I find a name embossed somewhere I will let you know in a post.
