Tranny Pan Leaking

OK I can't get my tranny pan to stop leaking. I have tried a rubber gasket and a cork gasket. I tired tightening the bolts a little and a lot but I still get a puddle on the floor if it sits. I have spent way too much money in tranny fluid and want it to stop. I made sure both lips were clean as well.

I know your not supposed to use sealer on trany parts but I an getting too my wits end.

Does someone make a better gasket?

Thanks,
Galen

Not too long ago I had my C4 rebuilt/installed by a shop, and it leaked at the pan. To fix it, the shop ended up using some type of black silicon sealer (RTV or Right Stuff) on a new cork gasket. So far everything is okay. I would have rather not used a sealer, but if it was the only way to get it to stop leaking...... I guess these old pans get slightly bent up over the years so they don't have as flat a surface to seal as they used to. Only other thing I can think of is a new pan.

The factory pans get warped and twisted. The flange also loses its flat shape over time. When you remove it for the next fix make sure it is as flat as possible. You may have to take a hammer to the flange to flatten it out. I finally gave up and sprung for a cast aluminum pan. No more thin flange to bend or warp.

Good luck

I use a large flattened cardboard box under the Bronco in the garage. I change it out every 6 moths or so. I guess I should probably spring for a cast aluminum pan next fluid change, but I figure this just comes with the territory of owning a 40 year old rig.

I did recently fix the major oil leak though. A set of valve cover gaskets fixed that right up.

"I doesn't leak, it marks it's territory!"
