How big of an ass pain will it be if I don't drain the transfer case before I remove it? I'm assuming I will spill a little fluid. The PO installed the exhaust right up against the drain plug and I can't get access without destroying the old pipes. This wouldn't be a problem if I had the money to put the new exhaust system in right now, but I don't.

I pulled my tranny and transfer case together. I made a cradle for the floor jack to lower it down. Drained them while they were on the bench. I installed them separately. That seemed to be the easiest.

Remove the lowest bolt from the front bearing retainer and use it for a drain.

You can remove the bolts on the transfer case where it connects to the tranny and let it swing down make sure you take off the shifter. I was pulling mine full, because I had a guy give me 4 bad trannys in a row. I got tired of waste perfectly good oil. I take mine off with my hands. If you use a jack you might want to drain it cause it might tip over and drain out through the vent. While you have it off you should look into a different vent I put an air hose fitting in it's place than I ran the hose up to the engine bay and put a air filter on it, part store have the filters for 10 bucks you can do the same with your diffs too. So in case I drove into deep water it wouldn't get into my gears. I would use a jack and it can be a hassle. Don't want you to hurt yourself.

Well, with some help from AK68, I got the transmission and transfer case down in one piece. It fell off the jack about half way down though. Doesn't appear to have broken anything, but chipped the crap out of the floor. Better it than our heads. Man is that thing heavy. No leaks from the transfer case so, we're good for now. Thanks everyone.
