Should I remove them both at the same time, or one at a time? Also, any pointers on a rebuild would be helpful. I have the parts on the way already.

Take them out as a unit. It is much easier this way. A trans jack will be very helpful in this also.

Much easier if you take them out together. Remember that it will be tail heavy when you put the trans jack under it...

I got a transmission adapter for my floor jack. What do you mean by tail heavy? You mean if I hook up to the transmission it will be? Also it probably wouln't be a good idea to hook up in the middle where the wieght will be centered out, right? To much stress on the adapter? Thanks for the replys.

Tail heavy means the transfer case will be hanging off the back of the transmission jack trying to turn it over. I prefer to use a web hoist along with it under the transfer case just in case

When I removed mine as a unit a web hoist was a come-along strapped to the roll bar, down through the shifter hole in the tunnel, and around the intermediate housing. Is that called a hill-billy web hoist?
