Transmission won’t shift into gear

First post so go easy on me! I inherited my dad’s ‘68 V8 Bronco that’s been in the family since ‘74. It’s been a ranch truck since the mid ‘80 and has lived a rough but well-loved life out in the wild. He’s not able to use anymore and after sitting for about 3 years, I picked it up about a month ago.

After draining the fuel and replacing with fresh gas, it started right up and I was able to drive it around the neighborhood with no issue for about an hour. Transmission shifted really well and had no issue. The next day, I had issues with the carburetor and had to tow it back to the house using the A frame hitch on the front bumper. Long story short, I replaced the carburetor with a new Holley 2 barrel and she now runs great.

However, now I cannot get her to shift into gear. I have crawled under the vehicle and all linkages look good and in working condition.

What could be the cause? Is it possible that I broke something when we towed it back to the house?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Pics for your time!

PS- I’m a long time Land Cruiser nut so am having to learn to speak a new language...don’t hold it against me!

***EDIT FOR CLARITY****

3 speed manual. Original manual transmission for a ‘68. Gear shift moves but doesn’t engage the gear. Will roll forward or backwards in any gear.

Details on your tranny would help: auto or manual?? which actual tranny is it??

The gear shift won't move or it moves, but the Bronco doesn't??

Climb under the rig and look at the trans while someone else (with ebrake on and engine off) shifts the column linkage to actually confirm the column linkage or shift collar is working.

Then check the t-case like mentioned above.

BTW, welcome to the world of Broncos... :)

Easy fix... maybe. IF it popped up on its own then you might have a "fix" in front of you... you enjoy this easy fix!

IF it keeps popping it out of 2WD then we can help ya out with that also...

:)
