We got a full 1-1/2 inches of snow last winter. Almost enought to make a footprint.

It was enough for me to wreck my Excursion because of some retarded sheriff driving the wrong direction down a one-way street. I'm just glad I wasn't in the bronco!

Bring your steel over. We'll make something that will put GFF out of business. ;)

Whmoorejr- The wizard of shit. between this and your valance panel I wonder what the rest of the stuff you own looks like.

But how do you REALLY feel? ;D

whPOOrejr, I kind get where you are coming from, but no doors would look a ton better.

I did the no doors for a while. I'm use to that and no problem. Gave the wife a ride to lowes and she was nervous the whole way.

Without welding knowledge, figuring out a hinge that will work with the stock setup was the biggest challenge. Making it look decent without welding something... well, at least my wife doesn't feel like she's going to fall out now.

She may however feel like she could get torn to shreds by all the jagged / sharp steel poking at her. Take them off, Go make friends with F.C.

Whmoorejr, good for you! Thanks for posting and putting up with all the opinions. I love to see homemade mods (pretty and ugly)—it breeds new ideas.

Way to go!

One last thought . . .

Next time, call it a ‘Prototype’.

Is the peanut gallery a little less critical if you use the correct verbiage?

FC and I PMed each other. (for those that are overly concerned) And plans are in the works.

Hey whmoorejr, don't let these guys get you down with their pompous attitudes (LOL) but I do like the idea of calling them prototypes. I gotta say though there is some unique engineering in there and hey, if they work they work! Good deal but still glad to hear you and FC are getting together.

Probably not, but it’s worth a try.

Here are some other good variations:
working prototype
template
first article
early pilot
spec build
pre-fab
charter build

Critical always going to be those folks, and you haven't gotten butthurt, so you are alright in my book.

Dude its pretty dam good for not fabricating at all, although i have seen prettier...anyways good job keep it up. usually when people criticize my shit i threaten to just mow them over in the bronco.. my bumper would perfectly break someones back or total their rice rocket. u should try it sometime, it works. Some smoothing, rounding, cutting excess. Still a working prototype.

But I still don't care for that GFF door latch. ;D
This is one of the stumbling blocks and biggest problem I have with the tube doors out on the market.

1) They are located behind your butt. Fine for the double jointed Chinese Contortionist in the family.

2) They are gravity controlled. The weight of the latch arm keeps the door closed. From looking at the other designs, one good bump in the right direction and your door flys open. (unless there is something in the design I'm not seeing)

I had a hood fly open at 65mhp once. Sucked butt. Every old car since then gets hood pins. Door opening wouldn't be as bad, would still suck.

Solution... something with a spring or locking mechanisim. I thought about snagging the lock mechanism from the stock door, but I didn't want to bastardize them any. = home depot spring and "L" bracket. %) ?:?

I want trail doors too, but not bad enough to put those on.

They look better painted though -- keep going with it and see where you get.
