I'm thinking of getting twin sticks for my Tcase. It is a T shift and I heard the I need to modify the internals. Would I be better off picking up a J case and swapping it out? Also do I need to cut up the floor board to install twin sticks?
Thanks

I know what your talking about. I remember the guys on here saying you have to do more to the T-shift for the twin stick. As Dudley said with a J-shift you simply saw the little plate in half that hold both shafts together so they can move freely/separately. I am not aware of the specifics for the T-case except that there is an additional modifications.
Regarding cutting open the tunnel. I guess you don't technically have to open the hole any bigger but I needed to to get my big hands in there to work. WH and Duff sell there's with a nice cover plate anyway.

nothing to do on a t-shift unless u want to make it a true twin stick(front and rear operation) u will have to remove the pills. the shafts are linked by a removable plate held in with pins, no cutting required like the j shift does. if u leave it alone u will have 2h, 2low, 4 h and 4low. if u remove the pills u can have front high, front low, rear low, rear high, and if u want to blow something up u can do a combination rear high, front low- but I dont recomend it. the only advantage to removing the pill is that u get independent opperation of the front axle, nice for tight turns but other than that its no big deal for the work involved.

i just watched that video the other night. Nice job man. I am in the middle of doing the twin stick conversion as well and decided to just remove the pills instead of grinding. Im at the point of sandblasting the case, painting and sending off the output shafts for a cryo treatment. The hard part will be getting all this crap back inside its home.;D
Or maybe I'll just grind them, sh*t, well...decisions decisions

Great Video Anthony! And great solution. I will need to dig into my 70 T-case soon and will do the same mod.

I have heard that the T case has a bit lower ratio than the J but it is harder to twin stick if you want to be able to go into front high or front low only. It can be useful to do front digs or limp home if you need to not be in 4 wheel drive.

I think you'd be just fine by simply removing the pills. The work I did really idiot proofs the box, so as long as you're not an idiot you won't have any problems...

Nice job on the video, just finished remving the pills and while I'm at it I might as well incorporate your shift limiter. Do you have the measurement used in your bracket? I had a max of 2.625 and a min of 2.500. My max for two shift positions was 2.800.

Thanks for sharing.

So if I have the T shift the pills will prevent low front high rear possibility or why would you take off the plate between the pins? The video shows him making a plate to prevent the problem. If you keep the pills do you still need the plate?

On a T model case the pills would not allow independent engagement. Removing the pills allows for indepenent engagement but would also allow low and high engagement which isn't a good condition and that's why you attach the limiter.
