Under dash radio options and speaker enclosures

Wifey got me a new radio for Xmas and wanted to install under my dash (so as not to cut the dash and keep the original am radio). Was thinking of having a custom box made (or make one myself) and coated with raptor liner and then having a pair of marine speakers installed on either side of the radio face plate. The whole unit wold be installed under the dash on the transmission tunnel.

Not looking to go crazy, just want a modern sound at a reasonable price. Would love to see what others have done. Let's see some photos!
