I just finished doing part of the cleaning on this original Koenig PTO winch. Almost ready for paint, but I am not sure what the original colors are and what color what is. Anybody know? The spool appears to have been sort of poppy red at one time, but so does some of the cast stuff?? Not sure if any of the aluminum stuff was painted, or left its casted silver color. Anybody know, or can help me break down the colors? Please let me know. Thanks Much,
Blue71

Not sure if this helps you but.....

I just bought a 66 model with a koening winch. This truck is all original(has the koening literature folded into the owners manual) and the winch, bumper, etc are silver. To me it doesn't look like anything on the winch has been repainted in all these years

I have a friend who inherited a 71 from his dad years ago. it had the original pto winch w/ bumper, if memory serves it was all black. I know for sure the bumper was black, seems like the winch was too. Man that winch was a beast....

Both of mine are unfinished aluminum. One is from a Willys and the other is Bronco. My bumper is gray.

Blue71, yours must have been the ultra-rare Stroppe Baja Bronco Poppy Red edition. Painted to match and came straight off of a Baja Bronco many years ago and has been stored in a barn ever since!
Makes it worth double. Right?

Well I finally got around to painting the bumper and winch. Went with the colors that it was painted before. First pic is before steam clean then on to media blasting, then a splash of paint. Thought it worked out OK. Let me know what ya think.

Thanks for all the help.

Blue, from what I have seen, that winch is modified. The clutch engagement handle looks homemade, nice job though.

Yeah..when I bought it someone had modified the engagement handle. Guess it'll have to do unless I find another one laying around (fat chance on that happening);D
