Opinions are cheap, but worthwhile! It has been 50 years since my bronco had it's white fiberglass flares installed by the dealer at purchase. Time, technology and my bronco have changed so I would to know which is better at accepting paint, urethane or fiberglass. This is much more of road queen than an off-road king

Glass will hold paint forever unless damaged. Painted ureathane will sooner or later will peel just like car bumpers do. Once the plastizer hardens it will crack and peel. May be 10 or 15 years but it will happen.

I think Fiberglass is better for paint.
Poly is a lot harder to get the paint to stick, and to match the sheetmetal. Even new cars that are painted at the factory often have a color mismatch between the bumpers and the body.

As said fiberglass is better. I have urethane flares and the paint is starting to release and chip off. I have a set of fiberglass flares to replace the urethane ones once I get them painted.

My duff urethane flares are more than 18 years old and the paint while chipped from rocks have never cracked or peeled.

Glass may be better but if done right the urethane works just fine.
