Vent window frame color?

Originally, were the painted vent window frames a glossy black or more of a flat black? Or somewhere in between, like a satin finish.

Anyone have pictures of one or all?

Thanks

My memory tells me they were in-between. A "satin" color then, or "semi-gloss" if you prefer.
Most are pretty flat by now, so hopefully my memory is still holding true.;)

Not sure what percentage though. Or whether it even leaned more to the gloss side, or the matte side.
Someone here will know though. Lots of painting has been going on for the last few years. Lots of research into original colors too. So the knowledge will be forthcoming I'm sure

I just now noticed that some had black vent window frames. Haha%)

Mine are chrome, never even thought to pay attention to that.

The upgraded Models all got the bright (polished stainless) I think it is like the Sport, Special Decor, Ranger, Explorer etc.

Thats the thing though. It has a few chrome options but is doesn't have any badges for the upgraded models. Marti report says its a plain jane 74 U152. Could the chrome pieces be ordered on the bronco seperately at the dealer? It might be pieced together too.

My 1974 Ford bronco Explorer had semi gloss black frames. There are also satin Stainless steel / chrome one's that I have from a 1972 Sport.

The assembly line was manually controlled back then Nathan. Maybe yours just got in the wrong place in line and that's what the guy had handy? Or maybe it was a temporary snafu in the paperwork. Could be someone replaced the doors at some point in it's past too I suppose.
Or yeah, maybe someone was able to order it that way somehow.

Hard to know at this point. But there is a guy here occasionally that worked on the truck assembly line in the mid-'70's (pretty sure he was there in '74) that might be able to tell us if he sees your question.

Otherwise, enjoy your uncredited uprated optional bling!
