So if anyone has heard me ramble about my build, my end goal is to put a diesel in my truck, so therefore anything to do with the engine I try to do without getting into to big of a project or spending a bunch more money on it, it s a good engine a Ford Racing 347 but I am just a diesel guy at heart.

Anyways, it has a good set of headers on it but they are not stainless, I dont know exactly what they are, a hight chromium steel for sure but not quite stainless so they had some surface rust on them, anyways I blasted them and figured I would try out one of the cheap ceramic paints not wanting to spend the coin of something like Cerakote for headers that I will be replacing.

That being said, I opted to give VHT ceramic coating a try and I have to say, I am impressed with the stuff, it's only been a few months but so far so good, all the old school high temp paint I have tried always flaked off almost immediately. I don't know if VHT is similar to Cerakote but I will say it's strong stuff.

I am impressed after assuming all the DIY non-pro header coatings where snake-oil like they used to be, I found the state of the art has defiantly moved on. It's nice to have a cheeper option.

I used the VHT engine paint "cast iron" color on my engine and accessories. It looks great and the coverage was very impressive. Lots of metal flake but very forgiving as it went on. I was shocked! Hope it holds up.
I also used the VHT header paint on my new sanderson headers from Bronco Hut. Cured them in the oven much to my wives dismay. They look good too. hopefully they hold up like yours.
I also used the satin black or semi gloss black VHT engine paint on the valve covers after sandblasting. Hated it! Coverage was terrible, paint flaked and chipped right away. And I did use their primer and followed instructions.

But 2 out of 3 aint bad! VHT worked well and I'd use it again.

I took a wire wheel and sandpaper to my old rusty headers 5 years ago and shot them with Vht high temp. Followed the heat cycle curing instructions on the can. They look like I just painted them. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

I have not used VHT on exhaust components but I think it looks great on my EFI upper and lower manifolds. Has held up extremely well.

For exhaust I have used exhaust coating from Eastwood. Don't have the exact part number handy but it came in a quart can and applies with a sponge applicator. Since late 2008 I've logged less than 10,000 miles but the exhaust paint has held up pretty well. It ages a bit but hasn't failed.
