Good evening to all from a new member! I am about to embark on my first Gen 1 Bronco rebuild. I have located 3 to purchase which eventually I will be selling two of them to recoup money. What I need now is clarification on one of the vins. I looked up online and am some what confused as I got some conflicting info. Maybe just me. This is what I have on the data plate: U15GLF94979 0927 U150 9U98 C18 11.

The owner thinks it is a 1969 but to me it looks like a 1967?

Thanks and looking forward to not only the build but also using the knowledge from you guys have for this greenhorn.

It’s a 69 according to serial #. See attached pic.

U15- wagon
G- 302 engine
L- Michigan assembly plant
F94979- 7/69' build

092- 92 inch wheelbase

7- Harbor blue

U150- standard 4300lb gvw

9U98 - front parchment buckets and rear bench seat, wagon model

C- 3 speed manual transmission

18- small bearing 9" rear 3.50 open gears

11- Boston

.....from the info above. Does the warranty plate vin match the frame vin? 67' wouldn't have a 302, wouldn't have that body code, wouldn't have that axle code. Warranty plate was on the driver kick panel in 66/67, not on the glove box door but could always be moved there by someone.

Thanks for the great input. The owner told me it was 1969 but the vin confused me. The stuff I found online I guess I read wrong? Looks like at some point it was changed from manual to auto trans as it now has a C4 in it. You guys are the best!!!

What is the actual VIN on the title and frame??? Data plate could have been changed at some point and is not necessarily the true VIN #

If you are using the BroncOhio site for your information, it has been riddled with mistakes and false information for more than 20 years without correction.

Maybe not completely infallible, but I trust the Ford books to have been proof-read, way more than I trust most website’s compiled data.
Except most of the posts here, of course, utilizing sources like you have, or Okie, or others have here have used.
