vintage air temp control module location

I am installing a vintage air system for a friend. My question is can the temp control module be installed under the dash?

In the instructions the wires go from the inside to under the hood to the control module. It just seems to me it would be a lot cleaner if it was all under the dash.

Can it be done this way or is there a reason it is not such as not enough, etc...?

Hey Lane, I installed the BCB Vintage air in mine and I put the temp control under the dash. It's kinda tight under there but it did fit.

thanks, I will try it. I just did not know why it was designed that way. Looks like it would be a cleaner look installed under the dash.

I may have called it the wrong thing. It is an electric version of the heater control valve. it works just like the original heater control valve, but it is electric with the vintage air kit. The kit calls for the wires to be ran from the inside to the valve under the hood. It just seems like a cleaner install to put it under the dash with the unit and the wires.

I didn't know if there was some "important" reason vintage air designed the way they did to be under the hood.

Possibly it's just avoiding extra potential leak sources in the cab?

Maybe its out there to keep the hot coolant out of the cab until you need it like the oem version....I still need to look at mine. In already at work. I'll check tonight,

I like mine under the dash because it cleans up the hose routing under the hood and one less wire harness hole in the firewall.

I'm in process of doing this now. It does call for it to be inside. It's a super close for from the bulkhead to the heater core inlet.

2reasons I wouldn't want to put it under the dash
If you have to change it, it will be a PIA
When it does have to be changed it will make a mess inside the cab

But the reason not to install in engine bay is that servo may not last long with the high temps, not sure on this just a thought

Thanks for the replies. My instructions call for it to be put under the hood. I decided to put it under the dash to make it cleaner under the hood. It is definitely not a bolt on deal. I seem to have to do slight mods to a lot of stuff - fan shroud, turn distributor to clear vacuum advance, space fan to clear compressor, etc.... The latest is hood clearance on the compressor hose valves. Will require body lift or cut the brace.

Thanks for all the comments.
