WH Saginaw bracket for Explorer - on a 351W

It's intended to be used on 5.0/302 since it uses a stud on the water pump instead of all the bolts being into the head. Curious if anybody has adapted to use on a 351W ? If so a few details and pics would be great.

WH sells (or has sold) two different Saginaw to Explorer serp adapters, one does not fit the 351W, the other newer design which only bolts to the head does fit 351W as well as 302/5.0L.

I bought the older kit and could not for the life of me get it to line up properly. Could have been just me though. I ended up just using the stock explorer pump and bracket.

It took a bit to get the older bracket to line up, but once done there have been no issues. I bought an upper idler pulley bracket from a member for the 351W since at that time WH didn't have the 351W bracket.

I’ve used the newer style bracket on four different builds now, it’s a great product. It keeps the pump nice and low, which is great when you’re running a remote reservoir. Leaves you lots of mounting options. Plus, you can run an A/C compressor, York or Sanden, for OBA or a/c. One piece design makes it simple for the 5.0 or the 351w. Only the belt length will be different between the two.

Perfect, did not know that 2nd bracket existed.

I just double checked and they're (both the P/S and the A/C brackets) still on the "New Parts" category listings. But they are also literally the last two parts shown!;D

They don't say 351/5.8 in the title, but do mention it in the text.

Can you post a pic of this upper idler pulley bracket? I've got the older WH kit. Probably had it a couple of years now and finally getting around to trying to install on a 351W. A buddy said we could make it work, but I haven't got into the install, only the teardown. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you.

If you have the "old" version (which we still sell) It won't work with the 351W. Lets exchange it. We can credit you tword the new version that fit both 302 and 351W.

You can always make something work with some welding, grinding etc. Save time swap it out.

Whoa!! Really?!? That would be great!! Thank you so much. I'll try to call WH tomorrow and ask about this. I forgot I posted this info and just now saw it. Thanks much Jim! Appreciate the chance to exchange and willing to pay cost difference as applicable. Wish I had this figured out, just received a WH shipment the other day for windshield gasket and trim parts. Doing a paint job at the same time as explorer front dress. Two COVID projects with my out of school teenagers. Thank you!!

The older kit (pic #1) is only for 5.0. You can adapt anything with welding cutting etc. But not worth the time. https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/produ...-Bracket-Set-non-AC-only/EXPLORER5ENGINEPARTS

This new unit (pic #2) will work for either 5.0 or 5.8 Explorer front dress. You can also add the A/C bracket if you want to.

Hey Paul and Jim, sorry but I am slightly confused. I clicked on the two links don't see the the bracket in Chub_Rock posted. I also looked for the bracket in the "New Parts" section. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks guys.

Thanks Mark.
And I notice that now the #7129 is just three rows down on the New Parts page. So apparently rotating their way through the listings.

Whenever I'm looking for different items along these lines on the website and don't have a specific item description, I just type in "explorer" in the search box and it all comes up on one page: https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/category/s?keyword=explorer
