I might be getting a 66 Bronco with a 200 six, and 3 speed...I was thinking about getting a late model F-250, with a 300 EFI six, and a 5 speed trans/ transfercase, and swapping it into the 66...I know there are adaptors to hook up a 5 speed to the dana 20, but I was planning on using whatever transfercase is behind the 5 speed...I was wandering if anyone has done this, or have heard about it?

I heard that the 300 I-6 is heavier and taller than a built 351W. Check with rjlougee he's doing one at the moment and he have pics on his website.

I'm not finished with the cover Bronco yet...I have to blead the rear brakes, finish my console, nerf bars, cage, and bolt the rest of my seats in...It's been too cold to work out in the barn lately...
But if I get this 66, I was thinking about making it my daily driver (except winter)...Its all original, except the engine...It even has original paint, and less rust, than my 94 F-150 (which only has one rust spot the size of a quarter)...Its a halfcab, and has an extra full cab...It wouldn't take much to get this one in tip top shape...It needs door weather stripping, and door aliegnment...And, if I Ever get that original 76 full cab, I can own all three versions of the Bronco

For the amount of work and money making a 300 fit, why don't you just build a fire-breathing 408 Stroker. Hopefully I will get mine built in the upcoming months...if I have enough money.

The 300 is supposed to be about 50# heavier than the 351W, and is 5" longer. It will fit in the stock EB 8 cylinder engine mounts, using the stock '80s 300 motor mounts.

I changed the position of the mounts on mine, mostly to lower the engine in the frame. Since the 300 has the same stroke as the 351W, but vertically instead of in a 'V', the engine's pretty tall. The mounts are lowered 2" in the frame.

With the extra length of the 300, the NP435 shifter comes out on the flat portion of the tunnel, instead of at the bend.

The biggest problem with the engine/trans/transfer combo is the length of the transfer case. All of the newer combos will use the BW1356 or NP208. Both are too wide to fit in the frame of an EB, unless you shift the engine centerline about 3" to the passenger side. Or you can get creative cutting out the frame on the drivers side.

Here's what it looks like now:
Jim,
Be careful, If you get another one to drive you'll never finish the first one you started. Believe me, I'm going through this predicament now!
I still have to wire the truck, I've just been to busy to get much done lately.
Joe
Joe,
Same here, With the holidays coming I'll have to put the project aside even if it's only one day a week that I get to work on it.
Merry Christmas!
Honorio
