What would you guys would say would be a fair price to ask for a totally rebuilt '77 front end with 3.50 open?
new rotors, new ujoints, new calipers, new pads, new ball joints, new bearings, new Warn locking hubs etc. totally gone through pretty much everything replaced except the gears which are in fine shape - not sure if I am going to need it now.

For comparison, new 44 crate axles with lockers run up around $1500 less brackets and brake components.

Looks/cleanliness can go a long way as well (blasted, painted etc..).
The stock gears will probably tend to only grab the stocker folks as most want a lower gear for an upgrade.
Maybe figure what you have put into it not counting labor.

In 2006 I gave around $1600 for my front D44. Came with an ARB locker, fresh bearings throughout, Superior axle shafts, CTM joints, Chevy disk conversion, beefed up track bar riser, Heim steering mounted on top of the knuckles, Warn hubs, and some spare parts (ujoints, etc).

It was totally set up for my purposes and has served me well.

I think it is probably worth about the same as a title! ;D

Really Mike, I would look at what I had into it and post it up in the want ad to at least cover the parts etc. and see if you get any bites. At the end of the day my pappy would always tell me somethin was worth what someone would pay you for it. So figure out what you got into it and what it is worth to you and price it accordingly. At the end of the day it comes down to answering one simple question, do you need the cash or the space? That will help you determine what to ask for it.

Good luck.

I purchased a completely rebuilt disc brake D44 off ebay for $1200 (not a 77). It had chrome axles and Spicer 760x joints.... which I soon broke ;D Lol But the ball joints, gears, and brake pads were all new and I am still running those after 8 years of hard wheeling. And the locker was slightly used and I have not had a minutes trouble out of it either. ;) Knock on wood!

What brand ball joints?
What U-jonts?
What brake pads?
Were the axle seals done as well? Diff bearings?

If they are the right parts, and you were after a 3.50 open diff, a grand.
If the parts are the local auto parts store house brand stuff I would consider the guy rebuilding it to sell at a profit a low grade flipper who threw money in the wrong places.

If you hired someone to get and (re)build this diff to your specs you could be pushing nearly $2k.

Too many un-disclosed variables.
