What I was getting at is that parts for SI's may now be only available from lessor quality sources, not that you can't find them. Again, I'd talk to the local alternator shop, they'll know and their rep is on the line if they're a quality shop.

voltage output is a regulator issue not so much an alternator have you tried a new regulator/

Given the oxidation on the alternator case it could easily be a high resistance ground at the alternator causing the low voltage. Take all of the ground path faces to bright metal, check all of the connections in the charging cables/wires, and test it again. Might even run a dedicated ground cable the same size as the charging cable directly to the battery - terminal before re-testing.

Next would be to check the wiring. Those use a reference voltage wire that many conversions simply jumper across to the output lug. I'd move it to directly at the battery + terminal.

Has the vehicle run well with the Sniper 1 up to this point?
When did the alternator stop working, under what conditions, and was anything damaged?
The system has been fine with the sniper I system; it's been on it for years.
But up into the last couple six months the charging system is definitely lacking. The current battery is a red top optima; it's years old.

Current issue with the alternator is it won't charge, even at hi rpm
