What's The Oldest Bronco Out There?

Anyone know what the oldest existing Bronco is? I have an Aug. 65 build and if I'm reading the vin correctly, it's #36 off the line...

Hey what is your vin number? Mine is U15FL732051 and that's 51st truck off Ford's truck assembly line in MI. Remember that broncos were mixed in with all Ford trucks including the econoline. Just the model numbers changed (U15) for model to model not the sequence numbers (732051) they were used on all the truck model. So I don't if there is a way of finding what number your and my broncos it truly is? The "F" is the engine size and the "L" is MI truck assemble plant.

Hey, thanks on my influence of having you stop the "butchering of your 66." lol With a VIN of No.23 that would be a total shame to do anything other then 100% pure stock! Does the truck still have the original 170 motor? I very interested on seeing progress pictures of your resto once you start into. I love all types of early Broncos..... trail trucks, resto mods, Lifted uncut, and pure stockers. I would say the pure stockers has an edge over all!

And yes, I believe it still has all original drivetrain, but I have yet to check the numbers (where are the numbers on a 170?) The PO told me it was the OG engine.

I'm with you, I love 'em in all shapes and forms (bronco's, that is), but 66's are best left factory fresh;D

My '71 will get what I originally planned for the '66 (a EFI 5.0, auto, stereo, PS, PW, PL, hydroboost, discs, gears, sport trimmed LUBR)!!!

Yes, I miss spoke too.... No.36 lol As for the numbers on the block Ford didn't stamp the VIN numbers on the motors quite yet. But you can check the date casting numbers I think by the distributor? There will tell you if the motor is the right date code but that's about it. I have read some Mustang forums about this and they are in the same boat with early Mustangs too.

Tell her that 66 a diamond in the rough at if she is restored correctly who know what it could be worth! Show her before and after pics of mine abut use "Best of Shows" pics in the 2010 completed sales section. Just to give her a little bait on the hook. ;D

Just to clarify a point, the Econoline was made at the Lorain, Oh plant and for a very short time at the Oakville, Ont. Plant, but never at MTP to my knowledge. Of course the Econoline today continues to be built exclusively at the Avon Lake, Oh plant. (I know you know that but just put that out there for the rest of the folks out there)!

Yeah, both her and my son want to keep the '66, but I need to keep the '66 AND the '71 so I have one to modify

I honestly don't think either are going anywhere
