so im starting to pull the engine apart to drop the 351 in thats being built. (blew a piston on this one so i might as well start now) and i was pulling stuff off the wheel wells and i noticed this thing and it was wired to itself.... so what is it what does it do do i need to wire it to something or should i just trash it?

A resistor so you don't melt down that MSD coil.

Ignition resistor. Keep it if using a stock ignition and don't have the stock resistor wire under the dash.

looks like a ignition resistor. if your running msd igntion you don't need it.
