Following the 12v red wire back from the coil to the firewall and didn't see a stock ballast restor? Anyone know where it is? Just put in an electronic distributor and was gonna bypass it so I have the full 12v that the new dizzy requires?

Thanks,

Andy

From the factor they didn't have a resistor, they had a resistive wire from the ign switch to the firewall. I think is was pink with a protective sleeve over it because it got hot. Many (including mine) have been replaced over the years with an actual resistor.

Its in the "run " circuit coming off of the ignition swistch - it's a resistor wire. Dirtdonk and or Viperwolf can tell you the color of the wire.

Hi, when I needed a key on 12 v lead for a pertronics ignition I took it from the back of the alternator. Check for key on, 12 volts, key off 0 volts. Good luck

The Pink one from the ignition switch is the resistor wire.
When it comes through the firewall it turns into the Red w/Green to the Coil and the Brown to the Starter Relay.

You can use that resistor wire to trigger a relay which can be hooked to a 12V source, done it this way several times, works good

That's what I've done on several vehicles
Quicker and you can drop the points back in if the electronic fails on the road somewhere
