I converted my 72 Bronco to power steering with the 2WD gearbox that mounts on the inside of the frame. Which tie rod & drag link do I need to make this 2WD gearbox work, And can I get one from a local parts house or do I have to get it from a Bronco parts supplier?

The Drag-link needs to be shortened. I have not seen them at any local parts store. I don’t believe another car or truck uses the same length drag-link. I had to shorten mine bye cutting and rewelding.. This way is much cheaper than going through a Bronco Parts Store. They all sell them around $130.00. If you are looking for a bolt on then spend the $$ if you can have someone weld then cut and burn..

I believe i made mine 22-23" i'm not sure now.. Every bronco is diffrent so you need to measure your set up. measure to the center or each hole.. tyerod to pitman arm. should be 23" or so.. Before you cut make sure you scribe or paint a strait line down your existing drag-link. So after you shorten it you can mach up the line for your Ball joint allinement. Tack weld then check.. If everything lines up continue to weld. I then placed 4" long piece of steel over the weld and rewelded for more support. Remember no need for a drop pitman arm with this set-up the gear box is long enough.. Do you have at least a 3.5" lift and a drop track bar bracket??

good luck Its really not that hard at all. Measure twice cut once

Yeah, you can cut, sleeve, and weld the stock drag link or get an adjustable one from Wild Horses. I might have a used welded one laying around. PM me if interested.

I guess I'm going to cut & weld mine to make it work. Now I have another question. I put the power steering pump back on & the pulley is hitting the gearbox, so I guess I'm going to have to do a ham can conversion too. Thanks for all the posts. CWatts

Mine is about as close as this one too. Yes, try and find a smaller pulley.

I cut 7 & 11/16 out of the drag link & welded it back. That worked great, but when I put the pump back on the pulley was hitting the gear box, so I had to add some metal to the bracket to allow the pulley to swing out a little further to clear the gearbox witch required a 1 inch longer belt.
I went for a ride & it handles a lot better, it was drivable!!!! Thanks for all the advice. CWatts
