Which Lokar Transmission Dipstick???

I got a B&M Deep sump pan because my transmission selector shaft was broken. I thought that while the tranny shop was fixing this that when time came to put everything back together the deep pan could go on. The deep pan could not be put on because the dipstick was rubbing on the exhaust when screwed in to the B&M Pan. I did not want to bend the dipstick as it would probably break. So I need a fexable dipstick. There are no Lokar distributors here in Alaska, so I wanted to get some input on what everone esle is using.

There are two Lokar dip sticks a transmission mount and a firewall mount. I want to know what everyone is using. I am leaning with the transmission mount as it looks more stock. Which one would be best for the EB?

I have a firewall mount for mine. It gives the flexibilty to pretty much mount the head anywhere in that area. Mine is actually held to something over there (heater hose I think) using nylon zip ties and has been that way for quite awhile. I've always intended to drill some holes and permanently mount it but just never got around to it.

The one u need is the Firewall "Pan Fill" stick. You will have to cut it down to the length of your stocker stick. Pretty nice install.

I have the firewall mount on mine also with a B & M deep pan. I didn't have to trim anything, or maybe I should say I didn't trim anything. I ran mine with the stock dipstick tube for a while with no problems. It did have to be bent some to get it on there. While I had my pan off putting in a temp sensor I changed it. Be prepared for it to take a while when you add fluid...it's slow.

I suppose it depends where you'd like to mount the dipstick. Either way. It is nice and like JW says; it does take some time to fill.

it doesn't. the tranny mount stick is designed for a street rod with an opwen engine bay. the head of the stick will be below the head. get the firewall mount stick, and the teflon ez read will be fine.

Thanks for the expalining the difference. I was not sure where the dipstick handle would be located and with it located behind the headers by the head sounds like it would be a bear to check with all the componants in the way.

I only have a 2" lift. Also I like its more verticle position for ease of filling...tranny fluid is think. I had also thought of the passenger inner fender well. But as u can see I need the space for other things. :) Now I'm installing A/C and I like that the stick isnt where u guys have yours...

Nothing wrong with throwing out all the options. Shows usually there can be more than 1 right way to do things.

Hotwheels - I am running the same tranny cooler based your thread and installation, only I had to put it on the drivers side in order to not rework some already installed things.

Either way...the Lokar dipstick is a nice piece. I also added their oil dipstick.

Thanks for this post and classic broncos

Just came upstairs to research a dispsitck after finding out that the stocker isn't going to easily fit the Hughes deep pan I've been working on installing the past 45min. Looks like I'll be ordering a lokar. Thanks for the info guys.

Depending on what headers you have be prepared to cut and flare the Lokar tube and possibly bend it as well. The Lokar tube worked with my 15 year old WH full length headers. With my new WH shorty headers it wasn't possible to make work in mine. I finally bought a 5/8" tubing bender and some Aluminum 5/8" OD tubing and bent up my own tube. It was still a tight fit but I was able to make it work. Here is what I came up with.
