Which Odyssey Battery?

found Deka Intimidator shipped to my door for $202 is that good? Closest dealer is over 60 miles away. The Odessey is 250+ to my door. Yellow top is 195 dollars and the Sears Plat 1 is around $205 after taxes.

Costco sells the optima line for a pretty good price, I think the yellow is 170 down here, the red is 135.

I think it was $180. It's on the Sears website.

Yesterday I got their big deep cycle battery for my boat to replace the flooded cell diehard that just went bad. It was $240, but they credited me $80 for the bad one I brought back.

Only problem with going with a cheap battery is, if it fails it can take over components with it. Probable 20-30% of our regular alternator sales are due to a failed battery.

The doesnt mean you have to go AGM. But I would consider pricing out a regular wetcell from DEKa/East Penn/Sears/Interstate Gold first.

That new marine battery I just bought has to be the heaviest battery I've ever picked up. It far outweighs the same size wet-cell Die Hard that it replaced. It has a ton of lead in it.

Oddessey vs. Optima

Is this Oddessey battery really that much better than an Optima?

In some peoples opinions, a regular wetcell battery, at half the price of an optima, is that much better than an optima.

Oh, he's not being cryptic, he just hasn't spelled it out on this thread. Do a search and you'll find Ray's opinion (and the opinion of many others) in regards to Optima's. Basically, the old Optima's were great, but the quality in the last few years-in a word-sucks. Best of luck in your battery shopping!

Sorry, I would not recommend an Optima battery to anyone anymore. Looking back at the last few years, I would say 90+% of my customer's issues with my my stuff, have a common denominator. They were still customers of Optima too. I am almost at the point were my companying is considering voiding warranties if our products are used in a system with an Optima battery is also installed. (That wouldnt be retroactive, in case others are wondering).

Is that clearer?
