Wanting to put ram assist steering on my HP D60. Will be running 39.5", ARB, 110 wheelbase, rock crawl/rock race, 20% high speed, rest of the time crawling. Would like it to have nice highway manners. WH ram assist kit? PSC? West Texas Redneck Ram? AGR? Thanks all!

My first time around I used the PSC kit and it worked great. Second time around, I tried to piece it together and not so good results. I would go PSC again.

I've got a psc ram waiting to go in. Can't speak to performance, but the fit and finish appears very high quality

Hi,

I am running a PSC cylinder connected to a stock Bronco box which was rebuilt by West Texas Off-Road (with fittings added for the ram at the time of rebuild). The box was rebuilt two years ago; but, the ram was just installed in August.

We're only running 35s on D44, so the stress isn't quite what you'll be experiencing.

I have no complaints about the operation of the setup.

Good luck.

I have a very similar setup. ARB, D60, a 4X4X2 box, and high flowed hydro boost. I have the PSC ram as well. It all worked great until I swapped to the Explorer serpentine using the stock Explorer pump. Before adding the ram when the ARB was engaged steering was difficult. After adding the ram no problem.

West Texas Redneck Ram kit here.

I needed my box rebuilt and figured I might as well have it machined for a ram.

They did a nice job.

I have yet to install the ram. I just haven't needed it yet. I am running 35s.

But it seems like I am the only guy who went Redneck. I feel like such a loner.

hahah

I had things narrowed down to either HOWE or the WH full setup (4x4x2 box, HV pump, and ram assist) earlier in the year. I ended up going with the WH setup simply because it was about $800 less and I did not have an opportunity to mark, pull, & ship my OEM box back to Howe ... But I'm no racer here. Just trail, sand dunes, and street use. Be aware, you may want to add some type of fluid cooler to the WH setup as it is not part of the "package" when I bought mine. I've only had the EB on the street between the house and a couple of shops since the install so far but it's road manners are night and day different from the OEM power steering setup. Can't wait to get it dirty!

When I was looking closely at things I had seen more then a few times where guys were having some issues with the PSC pump setup squealing and leaking. The pumps were only lasting 6-18 months before needing a complete rebuild. I could never find why or how in any of the threads but reading the frustration the owners were having I decided to steer clear of PSC. Although there are quite of few HAPPY PSC owners running around.

Not sure I've helped but there some .05 advice worth maybe a .01...;)

X2 On the Redneck Ram. Been running it on 37's for years and no probs. I'm using a Saginaw pump..my original one I "hot rodded" for the ram, when it went out (cracked) I grabbed another from a local parts store and the washer/spacer was already bigger for more pressure. Instead of running a separate resevoir, I'm running a larger cooler on the dvr fender for the extra volume.

PSC Full Hydro! My local club is slowly converting over now that a couple of us have it. Mine is double ended, I just helped a buddy do his with single ended, and he wishes he would have done it years ago! The new orbitals have return to center, and work with the motor off. I have spools front and rear, and it doesn't bother me at all driving 55mph down the road with one finger on the wheel.
