Who makes Tom's leaf springs?

I need to get in touch with the OEM for Tom's Bronco parts leaf spring manufacturer. I have now busted my 3rd main spring and I need to do 2 things. First I need to order some replacement main springs, second I need to make sure I do whatever is necessary to keep them from breakin again. I am sure that the first 2 broke due to over-inverting the springs (almost 4") and the third one may have been dammaged in the same way prior to installing my 5.5" high bump stop extensions. But I want to be sure.

Has anyone else had problems breaking leaf springs?

I'm not sure who manufactures Tom's springs but I've heard National. That aside, are you running an anti-wrap bar of some sort? Lot's of deflection combined with wrap can fatigue and break springs really quickly.

I've broken 25 year old stock springs and a set of skyjacker soft rides. I'm on BC springs now waiting for the thinner leafs to break on them but I have my fingers crossed.
I think the stockers broke because of age. The skyjackers for the same reason yours did I didnt lower the bump stops. Not sure about the BC's they flex really well and I'm not sure just bump stops will prevent them from breaking. Traction bars might help

National got bought out by Deaver. I think they are making most of them now. They are out of Santa Ana, CA. # is (714) 542-3703 or (714) 542-2898. Good folks. Let them know your problems and good luck.

My emergency has passed, I talked to Tom at Tom's Bronco Parts, although he didn't reveal his spring source he is sending me a replacement top spring at just over his cost to replace it when he runs his next batch of springs. He is also offering to replace the other 3 top springs under the same conditions as this one. He is actually dissassembling springs in his shop to make this happen right now. He is a good man!

I will look in to having Deaver make some for me when I get back, see how the prices compaire and if they have any good info for me to keep me from breaking more of them. Tom mentioined that I might also be overextending the spring under extreem articulation. I doubt this is the case though. I think I just dammaged this particular spring befor I got the bump stops installed.

See ya on Dusy!

I talked with Deaver a few weeks ago on a project I'm working on. Cost was about a grand for 4. But that was for my specific application, so yes, they were custom. But it sounds like Tom is doing you right, so it would be best to help keep our specialty shops in business. At least you got a workable solution.

Tom's is definatly doing me right.

I am still interested in getting 4 new top springs though. I'm thinking that going thru Tom's will be a bit pricy so I want to talk to a couple of the spring manufacturers and see if I can do a bit better. Remember, all I need is the top leaf, not an entire pack. Unfortunatly the top leaf is half the cost of the entire pack because it is not just a simple leaf, It has eyes at each end.

I just installed the replacement spring today. I don't know who it is that make them, but I am thinking that the made in India sticker on it would eliminate the North American manufacturers!

I guess I'll shop around a bit when I get back from Dusy-Ershim and see what I can do.
