Wildhorses throttle cable issues

So I installed the throttle cable and it has lots of slack and does not actuate the carb fully. I then shortened the cable and reinstalled the fittings on the cable. I still have a little play in the cable but still cannot achieve wot. However if I try to push my pedal to the floor I pull the fitting off of the cable. Any help or suggestions that could help????
Thanks

If the wild horses cable is the same as the BC Broncos one, I had similar issues, Basically I had to trim the cable to fit. Also make sure you seat the cable fully and tighten the set screws well. Also try route the cable without sharp bends. Then choose a good spot on the carb linkage that allows the easiest pull. I had my cable low on the throttle linkage at first because the hole was the closest to the size I needed. I almost couldn't press the pedal hard enough to move the throttle linkage, and had first one end of the cable pull out and then the other. I reseated and tightened the cables and set screws and moved the connection point higher on the carb linkage and the throttle cable worked great. Easy pull and full range motion on the carb linkage.
